Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced the success of a number of students from the Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of Arts in developing the first application of its kind in Egypt and the Arab world, "Team Kmit." The application is part of the Department of Archaeology's graduation projects for the academic year 2024/2025 , under the supervision of Dr. Mahrous Mohamed Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Arts. The application employs virtual reality technologies to display Egyptian antiquities in an innovative, interactive manner, contributing to enhancing cultural awareness and promoting Egyptian heritage globally. It represents a model for integrating academic study with technological innovation.
The university president explained that the application aims to provide an innovative educational and tourism experience that allows users in Egypt and abroad to learn about Egyptian civilization through virtual reality. This will contribute to spreading cultural and historical awareness in an interactive manner, by linking technology to heritage and providing a unique virtual experience that enables users to interact with archaeological sites as if they were actually visiting them.
The University President congratulated the students participating in this project, namely Mina Girgis, Fatima Muslim, Malak Yasser, Nadia Abdel Ghani, and Basma Ali, praising their ability to think and innovate, and appreciating their efforts that are in line with the state's orientations in supporting digital transformation and relying on advanced solutions in light of artificial intelligence in promoting tourism and antiquities to convey Egyptian heritage to new generations and tourists in an attractive way in light of the rapid developments in digital display technology.
