Master Abstract

Summary of the Study: This thesis is an attempt to investigate the mechanisms of grammatical argument through Al Zagagi's book Al Eddah Fee Ellal Al Nahou (Clarification of Grammatical Issues). The study comprises five chapters, preceded by a preface showing reasons for applying the grammatical argument mechanisms on Al Edah Fee Ellal Alnahou. It illustrates the extent to which these mechanisms are applicable to El Zagagi's book. The study also includes an introduction as well as aconclusion summarizing the most important findings of the thesis. The introduction includes significance of the study, reasons for choosing the topic, objectives and methodology of the study, in addition to a review of literature and the division of the research. The preface gives a brief overview about the pragmatic argument as a term and showing the suitability of the book as data for the idea of pragmatic argument. The study is divided into five chapters. The first chapter, which is entitled a theoretical approach, deals with the three axes of the study namely, Al Zagagi's translation, argument as a term and the book Al Edaah. The second chapter deals with reasons of grammatical argument and its types. The third chapter tackles the origin of grammatical argument in general, while the fourth focuses more on the origin of grammatical argument of Al Zagagi concerning the quantity of its use, i.e. few or many usages. The fifth chapter, the last one, deals with Al Zagagi's grammatical approach from the perspective of two sides: a theoretical side and an applicable one. This is combined by identifying the stages of Al Zagagi's grammatical thinking or approach.
