Defective Verbs in the Theories of Classical and Generative Grammarians

Research Abstract

Summary This research studys the defective verbs such as ( kana and its sisters – verbs of approach, hope and initiation) in the Theories of Classical and Generative Grammarians. This study aims to make connection between ancient and modern studies, and reveals the similarities and differences between Classical and Generative Grammarians in studying these verbs. This research is divided into introduction,Three chapters and conclusion, the preface exposes the classic studies and The theory of Generative and it's development. Then it connected between Arabic and Generative grammar. The First chapter's titel is ( Defective verbs in the grammaians) it's divided into four surveys. The first survey discusses ( The noun sentence into grammaians). The second survey discusses (kana and her sisters in the grammaians). The third survey discusses ( letters that'r similar to lisa). The fourth survey discusses (verbs of approach, hope and initiation). The second chapter's title is ( Sentence formation in the generatives). This chapter discusses the Sentence formation in the generatives through syntax rule, dictionary and ( the correction factors for sentence formation) such as " tense, identification and case" ,after that it discusses the order and the changes that happen to the main order such as movement dissociation and application of that on the helping verbs. The third chapter's title is ( The comparison between the curriculum of Grammarians and Generatives through the study of noun sentence with defective verbs), this chapter discusses acomparison between Grammarians and Generatives in studying sentence with defective verbs. Finally the conclusion it in cludes the most important results from this study
