Indicators of urban poverty and development priorities in the cities of Assiut Governorate : Geographical analytical study

Research Abstract

Abstract The phenomenon of poverty is considered a basic indicator of the extent of underdevelopment in societies, as it is considered an important issue that must be targeted when analyzing and studying development. It has been the practice to address poverty in that it is a common economic and social phenomenon that is familiar and found in all societies and even in all times, but to varying degrees, During the second half of the twentieth century and the early twenty-first century, the phenomenon of poverty and the poor became a multi-dimensional global issue, through its transition from one society to the global, by classifying countries into rich and poor countries and by identifying measures or indicators of poverty at the country level, as well as individuals but with Consider the relativity of one society to another . The problem of poverty is also one of the topics that have been of great importance at the global level, so the concept of poverty may indicate multiple trends that go beyond low income, as it shows the denial of basic services, and this means that the phenomenon of poverty is a problem that cannot be reduced to just one dimension of life. The most complex humanity, therefore, this research aims to shed light on the measurement of urban poverty indicators applied to the cities of Assiut Governorate in the Arab Republic of Egypt, which included urban indicators as well as indicators of infrastructure for urban poverty, In addition to its social and economic indicators, as well as health indicators, In addition to studying the cluster analysis of urban poverty indicators in the cities of Assiut Governorate, and in the end, developing policies and priorities for development to reduce urban poverty in those cities .
