“A Case Study of a Sample of Inventors”
Summary
Objective of the study
This study aims at investigating the social dimensions of the students’ scientific creative activities. The aim itself is sub-divided into more than one aim represented in: identifying the influence of the family in stimulating the students’ creative abilities, identifying peer group influence on creative abilities, identifying the influence of the media on scientific creativity, as well as identifying the impact of social networks (the internet) on scientific creativity, and finally identifying the impact of cultural accumulation of cases on their scientific creativity.
Methodology
The study relied on the case study method applied to ten cases of male and female students who obtained patents in a variety of specializations, in the provinces of Cairo and Beni-Suef, To analysis the impact of various social factors, such as the family, school, peer group, the media, and social networks on the level of scientific creativity they have, where the case index has been used as a tool to guide basic data collection.
Conclusion:
The results of the study revealed the presence of effective influence of the family on scientific creativity of students; and through several axes represented in the educational level of parents, economic level, profession of parents, and the level of cultural awareness of the family. Also, the results of the study indicated the presence of significant influence of the educational institution to which students belong, on the level of the scientific creativity they have; through the regulatory components of education: the teacher, management, curricula, school support, (physical and moral), and the environment of school. The results of the study also pointed to the influence of peer group situations surrounding the scientific creativity cases; either to be encouragement or discouragement. The results of the study also pointed to the influence of the media on the level of scientific creativity of the cases, in addition to the impact of social networking on the development of creative thought of the cases; opening of channels of social communication at the local and global networks. Finally, the results of the study revealed the impact of cultural accumulations acquired by students through attending seminars, scientific conferences, culture, and reading books, on the development of innovative and creative skills of the cases.
