The Dream-Like Atmosphere in Adrienne Kennedy’s A Movie Star Has to Star in Black and White By Smah Mahmoud Khalil El-Gendy Abstract The paper is going to discuss like-atmosphere in one of Adrienne Kennedy's plays; A Movie Star Has to Star in Black and White (1976). In addition, it will examine how the playwright has been influenced by major writers in applying this technique in her play. The paper will attempt to analyze how Kennedy uses the dream technique to portray the dilemma of African-American women who live within a circle of oppression in the American Society.
