Organizational Citizenship Behavior among Teachers A Comparative study of an Egyptian school and a Libyan one
Research Abstract
The study aims at studying organizational citizenship behavior among Egyptian and Libyan teachers. It also shows the more patterns of organizational citizenship behavior practices among Egyptian and Libyan teachers(Altruism,Courtesy,Sportsmanship, Conscientiousness, and Civic Virtue). it also illustrates the effects of some personal variables such as age, gender, income, and duration of employment on the organizational citizenship behaviors. Finally, It shows the aspects of work environment within Egyptian and Libyan school, and its effect on organizational citizenship behavior.
In order to find an answer to the questions of the study, a social survey method and a comparative method are conducted by the researcher.
The data of the study are collected according to some methodological techniques represented in a questionnaire, and the analysis of documents and records.
The study contains 116 Egyptian teachers from Beba Agriculture Secondary School, and 98 Libyan teachers from Fatima Elzahraa Secondary School ( Ajdabia city ).
The findings of study show that there are differences in organizational citizenship behavior between Egyptian and Libyan teachers. It also illustrates that the degree of organizational citizenship behavior among Egyptian teachers is medium, while the degree of organizational citizenship behavior among Libyan teachers is weak. The study elucidates also that courtesy is the more patterns of organizational citizenship behavior practice among Egyptian teachers, whereas the more patterns of organizational citizenship behavior practice among Libyan teachers are Sportsmanship. It also shows that there is a significant relation between organizational citizenship behavior and some personal variables: age, gender, income, and duration of employment. Finally, it shows that there is a significant relation between organizational citizenship behavior and the aspects of work environment.
